Hurricane Sandy Annuity Fund Distributions

The Board of Trustees adopted the IRS Hurricane Sandy relief for Annuity distributions that was published on 11/16/12.  This will allow qualified participants to apply for distributions from their Annuity accounts for hardships arising from Hurricane Sandy.

Hurricane Sandy Distributions are available if a participant falls into any of the following categories:

(A)    The participant’s principal residence or place of employment on October 26, 2012 was located in one of the counties listed below, and he/she is experiencing a hardship for a need arising from Hurricane Sandy because of the devastation caused by the hurricane.

(B)    The participant has a parent, grandparent, great grandparent, child, grandchild, great grandchild, dependent or spouse whose principal residence or place of employment on October 26, 2012 was located in one of the counties listed below, and that relative or dependent is experiencing a hardship for a need arising from Hurricane Sandy because of the devastation caused by the hurricane.

PLEASE NOTE THAT:

• Hurricane Sandy Distributions must be taken no later than February 1, 2013.

• Participants must exhaust their Annuity Fund loan opportunities before they can qualify for a distribution.

• Distributions are still be subject to tax, including the 10% penalty.

NEW YORK:  Bronx County, Kings County, Nassau County, New York County, Orange County, Putnam County, Queens County, Richmond County, Rockland County, Suffolk County, Sullivan County, Ulster County and Westchester County.

NEW JERSEY:  Atlantic County, Bergen County, Burlington County, Camden County, Cape May County, Cumberland County, Essex County, Gloucester County, Hudson County, Hunterdon County, Mercer County, Middlesex County, Monmouth County, Morris County, Ocean County, Passaic County, Salem County, Somerset County, Sussex County, Union County and Warren County.

CONNECTICUT:  Fairfield County, Mashantucket Pequot Indian Reservation, Middlesex County, New Haven County and New London County.
