FAQ Annuity

The Annuity Plan allows you to borrow money from your Annuity account. There are two types of loans offered:

  • Personal Loans, with a term of less than five years, and
  • Home loans for the purchase of a primary residence, with a term between 5 and 30 years.

If you wish to take a loan, you will need to log into your account at www.massmutual.com/journey. Click the “My Account” tab at the top of the screen, and then the “Loans” link under the Account Features menu. You may also call MassMutual for assistance at (800)743-5274.

When am I able to take a distribution from my Annuity account?

There are several circumstances in which you are able to take a disbursement from your Annuity account including retirement, becoming age 60 (partial distribution), being out of the industry for more than a full year, total and permanent disability, or a temporary disability that lasts 45 or more days. For more information regarding each of these types of distributions, please see the “Distribution Types” page.

Using MassMutual’s website The Journey, you have the ability to manage your annuity account. In addition to checking your account balances and performance, you can research the available investment options, and make changes to how your account balance and future contributions are invested. The site also includes tools for helping you create an investment mix that is tailored to your situation and investment goals. When you were first enrolled with MassMutual, they sent you a PIN number that will allow you to access your account on their web site. If you have lost your PIN, you can call (800) 743-5274 for assistance.
